Syrian army breaks “Islamic State” siege on Deir ez-Zor

According to the Syrian state news agency Sana, the Syrian Arab Army and its allies have successfully broken the three year Daesh siege on the city of Deir ez-Zor after a four month campaign to recapture the Tadmur district and cities along the M20 highway from Daesh terrorists. Two Russian solders and several Daesh troops have been killed or captured according to Sana reporters.

Russian Kalibr cruise missiles have also destroyed several terrorist ammo storage and repair plants, the amount of terrorists killed is currently unknown. Footage of the cruise ships and targets has been provided by RT.

The city of Deir ez-Zor is in a state of ruin. According to RT, an electrical substation, water supply facilities, schools and hospitals were all blown up or torn down. Mines have also been left in several parts of the city were Daesh fighters fled. The Russian Reconciliation Centre did establish water treatment systems and have sent medications, food, water and more.

Currently, 100,000 are currently in government held Deir ez-Zor and up to 10,000 are trapped in the jihadist held part of the city. Up to a million could still be trapped in ISIS held territories in the Middle east North Africa and in Asia.
